The International Cricket Council's Anti-Corruption Unit is to examine a video recording of the recent one-day international between Kenya and India at Port Elizabeth, which the Kenyans won by 70 runs. The result of the match was a surprise, especially given the Kenyans' abject form in their previous matches in the South African triangular series. In the week before their remarkable victory Kenya had been bowled out for 90 by India (who knocked off the required runs in less than 12 overs) and then suffered a nine-wicket rout by South Africa.

The ACU made the request for the tapes the day after the match, and these were then flown to London to be scrutinised.

Two members of the ACU, who were in Johannesburg attending a meeting in connection with the 2003 World Cup, questioned match referee Ahmed Ebrahim of Zimbabwe before they returned to London. He is understood to have stood by the view he expressed in his official report -- that India paid for fielding an under-strength side.
