Players' decisions over England's cricket tour of India are set to be announced at 12 noon UK time today.

Doubts have arisen following safety concerns in the wake of the attacks on Washington and New York and the resulting US-led raids on Afghanistan.

The players met Rob Young, the British high commissioner to New Delhi, on Tuesday to discuss the situation and several of them have voiced concern, saying they may decide to pull out.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), while acknowledging there are "understandable concerns" among the players, is confident there will be a full complement touring India.

ECB chief executive Tim Lamb said earlier in the week: "The level of security surrounding the British team will be very high. I am very confident in the Indian government's ability to protect the players.

"They have a huge amount to lose if anything were to happen to an England cricket team. It would be a huge embarrassment to them."

England are due to play three Tests in December before returning in January for a five-match one-day series.

England last toured India in 1993, losing all three Tests. The last meeting between the teams saw England win 1-0 at home five years ago.

The squad is due to leave next month ahead of the first match on November 13.
