Tiffen to work as Women's Cricket Development Officer
Canterbury Cricket Association - 4 October 2001

CLEAR White Fern and State Canterbury Magicians star Haidee Tiffen, will being working as a Women's Cricket Development Officer in Canterbury as from Monday. Tiffen will be in the position for a total of six weeks, working through until the CLEAR White Ferns leave for their tour to India in mid November.

The Women's Development Officer position has become a reality after New Zealand Cricket recognised the opportunities which now exist to promote the woman's game and have provided each of the six major associations assistance to make sure this is done.

During her time at Canterbury Cricket, Haidee will work in the CCA Districts and the Christchurch Metropolitan area, promoting cricket specifically to the female population. Clubs who have girls and women's sections will be offered coaching support, primary/intermediate schools with girls teams will be visited and time will also be spent working with teams who are playing in the secondary school girls Wednesday afternoon competition.

This exciting initiative hopes to build interest in the women's game after the success of the CLEAR White Ferns at last season CricInfo Women's World Cup here in Christchurch. The main aims will be to sustain and build on the recent success of the 4th grade girls competition, to build numbers in the Milo Shield competition and to assist with the transition of players from secondary school to club cricket.
