Hasibul and Manjurul put a good show
Shahryar Khan - 9 October 2001

The unsuccessful pace due in Multan and Colombo captivated everyone yesterday in BKSP by capturing four wickets each against a three-day practice match against Bangladesh-A. The match has already been declared abandoned due to rain, but Hasibul Hussain and Manjurul Islam regained their form a bit.

Left-arm pace man Manjurul claimed 4 for 40 and his partner hauled 4 for 44 to disarray the batting line-up of their youthful opponents. Mohammed Sharif, the diminutive fast bowler, who proved himself good in Multan and Colombo, remained wicket less. He was seen bowling with reduced pace too.

Bangladesh-A was wrapped up for 156 in 51.2 overs despite a good start. Mehrab Hossain scored 25 and Rafiqul notched up 32 to put 57 runs in the opening stand. The next solid knock came from A-team skipper Khaled Mahmood, who made a valiant unbeaten 45. Mahmood fought alone at one end without having little support from the other.

Earlier in October 7, the National Squad batted for 73 overs to score 207 runs in their first innings. Aminul Islam was the top scorer to reach a fifty. Wicket keeper Khaled Masud assisted him by his handy 40 and Hasibul Hussain by his 33.

The right arm Kowshik, at any rate the fastest bowler of the country reeled the seniors by capturing four wickets giving away 52 runs.
