Cable & Wireless BET took the upper hand in this Wildey derby after reducing the home team in their chase.

The visitors showed great heart in rallying from early troubles, with a face-saving ninth-wicket stand of 105 in 97 minutes between Adrian Brathwaite and Anderson Holder. Holder, uncle of national Under-19 batsman Alcindo, recorded his best score of 69 with four sixes and four fours, while Brathwaite's patient 62 spanned 173 minutes. Winston Reid removed both batsmen in his third spell.

Banks had earlier reduced their visitors to 18 for three and then 73 for six, with the spin duo of Reid and Anderson Sealy threatening to run through the batting. But the lower- order stayed firm as Reid, with six for 55, and Sealy (four 91) were kept at bay.

When Banks batted Don Lovell set about his task like a man possessed, taking 16 off the first over bowled by Ryan Best as Banks rushed to 29 in three overs. Lonelle Hutson, in his first game for the year, accounted for David Sealy but Orien Bostic shared 47 for the second wicket with the rampant Lovell.

However, allrounder Ryan Layne sent shockwaves through the Banks camp, claiming the next five wickets and reducing the hosts to 97 for six. Lovell and Anderson Sealy have so far posted 28 for the ninth wicket. Lovell was 96 not out.
