Dawn Loralai and Turbat score convincing triumphs
20 October 2001

Loralai defeated Chaghi by six wickets and Quetta routed Turbat by 10 wickets in two of the nine Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-II second round matches that concluded Friday.

Loralai, surrendering a 65-run first innings lead, achieved victory when they dismissed Chaghi for 112 in their second innings and then achieved the 178-run victory target losing four wickets at Shola Stadium.

Ayub Khan played the decisive role in Loralai victory when he canned a run-a-ball 71 while opening the innings.

At the PCB regional academy ground in Karachi, Quetta forced Turbat to follow on and then took just four balls to get the required four runs to secure maximum points.

If Quetta's Mohammad Khan (three for 23) and Mohtashim Rasheed (three for 22) shared spoils in the first innings, Aqil Baloch grabbed bowling honours in the second innings by claiming four wickets for 74 runs as Turbat batted much better by scoring 187.

Mohtashim, with his left-arm spinners, bagged three for 43 for match haul of six for 65. Naseer Khan bagged three for 28.

The highpoint of Turbat was a fine century by Yousuf Jan who carried his bat while stroking 129 off 230 balls after 212 minutes of batting. He slammed 13 boundaries.
