CricInfo - 23 October 2001

Former England Test batsman, Raman Subba Row, has been appointed match referee for the three-match Test series between Sri Lanka and West Indies and for the triangular tournament that follows, ICC communications manager, Mark Harrison, confirmed today.

Subba Row, 69, was also match referee during Sri Lanka's three match Test tour of South Africa in 2000-2001 and has so far officiated in 43 Tests and 112 ODIs.

Another Englishman, former Yorkshire and England batsman, John Hampshire, will stand in as the neutral umpire in the first and the second Tests. Zimbabwean Russell Tiffin will stand in the final match series.

Meanwhile, Director of Umpiring for the BCCSL, K.T. Francis, says the local umpires for the Test and the triangular series will be finalised on Thursday.
