Gloucestershire's headquarters is officially, if not snappily, dubbed The Royal and Sun Alliance County Ground. Now Nottinghamshire are trying to get in on the act of adding a sponsor's title to what many regard as the most civilised of English Test venues.

Chief executive David Collier has admitted: "It might take a bit of getting used to but I don't anticipate any negative feedback."

What sort of feedback there is might depend on the identity of any sponsor. A name that does not fit in with the dignified air of historic Trent Bridge is unlikely to find common usage, despite the fact that a six-figure sum is being sought.
