Shahid Afridi has been named the Bland Blankart plc Cricketer of the Month for August.

In three completed Championship games in August, Shahid had four innings and scored 246 runs at an average of 61.5. The highlights were 69 versus Somerset and a breathtaking 164 against Northamptonshire.

With his bowling he took ten Championship wickets, the highlight being 5 for 84 versus Essex.

In the Norwich Union League, Shahid scored 186 runs in five innings, including two magnificent scores over 50, with his highest score being 68 against Somerset.

He has also taken eight wickets in the Norwich Union League, his best being 3 for 45 against Somerset.

The highlight of Shahid's month came in the C&G Trophy semi-final on 12 August when he helped Leicestershire defeat Lancashire by scoring a quite brilliant 95.

The club wishes to thank Shahid Afridi for his contribution since his arrival on 10 July.
