Bowler missing from vital last game of the season
Richard Walsh - 10 September 2001

Somerset batsman Peter Bowler, who has enjoyed such a successful season, will be missing form the team for the vital final championship match of the season, which get underway at The County gound on Wednesday because he has a law exam.

Earlier this evening Somerset Coach Kevin Shine told me, "There wil be no Peter Bowler and no Marcus Trescothick for the game on Wednesday. All the boys will report in on Tuesday morning, when we will decide which batter to go for."

Looking forward to the match during which the Cidermen could clinch the runners up spot for the first time in their history the coach told me, "We've got to get 5 points from the match, but we will be pushing hard to win, like we have in all of our championship matches this season."
