Dawn Shoaib lacks match practice
12 September 2001

Pakistan team manager Yawar Saeed had anticipated Shoaib Akhtar being left out from the one-day squad owing to lack of match practice.

Yawar said Shoaib had played in Tuesday's practice match because he was physically fit. Shoaib, who played for Inzamam-ul-Haq Eleven, conceded 37 runs from his nine wicketless overs.

He said the 16-member team was not the final list because in case of injuries, any probables from the camp could be selected.

Meanwhile, in the practice one-day match, Faisal Iqbal stroked an unbeaten 93 while Atiq-uz-Zaman slammed 40 not out to help Inzamam-ul- Haq Eleven beat Waqar Younis Eleven by five wickets at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Chasing 254 in 45 overs for victory, Inzamam-ul-Haq XI raced to the target in 42.1 overs.
