Murdoch issue resolved
Canterbury Cricket Association - 14 September 2001

Canterbury Cricket Association and Tony Murdoch advise that Mr Murdoch's fixed term contract for his employment as Chief Executive Officer with the Canterbury Cricket Association has expired, and that following Mr Murdoch's return from sick leave the parties have held discussions as to whether they mutually wish to enter into a new contract. They have decided that they will each pursue their own direction.

After seven years in a most demanding position, Mr Murdoch wishes to pursue employment opportunities which will allow him more time with his wife and family, particularly over the summer season, and notwithstanding that he has, over his time as Chief Executive, thoroughly enjoyed a very satisfying position and enjoyed cricketers, administrators and sponsors with whom he has had contact.

Mr Murdoch said that while he had thoroughly enjoyed the challenges of the Chief Executive's role, the absence of a clearly defined career path had given him cause to reconsider his future. A former high school teacher, he said a return to education was not out of the question.
