ACB Australian Cricket Board confirms additional fixtures for New Zealand tour
Australian Cricket Board - 28 September 2001

The Australian Cricket Board (ACB) has confirmed a revised itinerary for the forthcoming New Zealand cricket tour, it was announced today.

The new fixture list includes four matches ahead of the first Test in Brisbane starting on Thursday 8 November, instead of the one that was originally scheduled.

New Zealand Cricket requested the additional matches when its tour of Pakistan was first postponed then cancelled following the terrorist attacks in the United States of America on 11 September.

Because the program for the domestic season was already in place it was not possible to arrange matches against any of the six State sides.

However, the matches that have been scheduled will provide the touring squad with competitive opposition and excellent playing and training facilities.

The start of the tour is now as follows:

One other change to the tour program has been made. The New Zealanders' match against the Prime Minister's XI will now be played at Manuka Oval, Canberra on Thursday 6 December.

New Zealand will play three Test matches on the tour, at The Gabba, Brisbane (8 - 12 November), Bellerive Oval, Hobart (22 - 26 November) and the WACA Ground, Perth (30 November - 4 December).

New Zealand will also contest the VB Series of one-day internationals against Australia and South Africa in January and February 2002.

New Zealand is due to name its squad for the Test tour on Friday 5 October and will travel to Brisbane on Friday 12 October.

The New Zealand Test series will be followed by three matches against South Africa. They will take place at the Adelaide Oval (14 - 18 December), Melbourne Cricket Ground (26 - 30 December) and the Sydney Cricket Ground (2 - 6 January 2002).
