Test Championship preview Bangladesh v West Indies
ICC Media Release - 6 December 2002

West Indies, currently level on points with Pakistan in the ICC Test Championship, can move into clear seventh place by winning the forthcoming two Test series against Bangladesh starting this Sunday 8th December at Chittagong.

West Indies will be the third ICC Full Member to play a Test series in Bangladesh since the introduction of the ICC Test Championship after Pakistan and Zimbabwe.

If West Indies win the series they will move up to 15 points from 17 series with an average points score of 0.88, only 0.05 lower than India in sixth place.

Bangladesh have yet to register any points in the ICC Test Championship. A series victory will not be enough to lift them off the foot of the table but would see West Indies drop back into eighth position.

This will be the first time the two sides have ever met in Test series.
