ACB ING Cup final: Queensland Bulls to host New South Wales Blues
Australian Cricket Board - 22 February 2002

The Queensland Bulls host reigning domestic one-day champions New South Wales Blues at The Gabba this Sunday (24 February) in the final of the 2001-02 ING Cup.

The teams' 2001-02 head-to-head record of one win apiece, points to a close final encounter.

The Blues claimed victory by five wickets in Sydney on 18 November and the Bulls took the points at The Gabba on 30 November after a six-wicket win.

Queensland's chances received a major boost during the week when captain Stuart Law and fast-bowler Michael Kasprowicz were deemed available for selection.

Law returns to lead the Bulls after fracturing a knuckle during the Bulls' Pura Cup loss to the Southern Redbacks three weeks ago.

Kasprowicz bowled with enough confidence during the week to satisfy selectors of his recovery from a hamstring strain.

The New South Wales Blues, who defeated the Western Warriors by six wickets in last year's Mercantile Mutual Cup final, have named a 13-man squad for Sunday's match.

Powerful all-rounder Don Nash, Manly Warringah batsman Matthew Phelps and former Queensland one-day spinner Dale Turner have all been added to Blues squad.

Blues one-day star Michael Bevan will undergo a fitness test at 1000 tomorrow morning (Saturday 23 February) after suffering from a strained hamstring.

Bevan injured the tendon during the Blues' Pura Cup match against the Western Warriors in Perth on Monday (18 February).
