Warwickshire face Pollock availablity problems

Warwickshire can foresee problems with their choice of overseas player for the coming season. They will not be alone. A number of other counties will encounter similar difficulties as the international cricket calendar encroaches more and more into the English season.

In Warwickshire's case, they are likely to lose the South African captain Shaun Pollock for the last month of the season as he goes to Morocco in August for a four-nation tournament and then on to the ICC Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka in September. It is likely, therefore, that he will miss the last two rounds of county championship and Norwich Union League matches.

Bob Woolmer, Warwickshire's director of coaching, commented, "We are making urgent inquiries to find out what the ramifications are for Shaun. This has come as a bolt from the blue. Clearly to lose Shaun in August would be most undesirable, but all we can do at this stage is to monitor what is happening."
