These are some of the problems which subscriobers have reported already:

Why am I having problems logging in?

This may be for two reasons. Which of the following messages is showing on your screen?

The username and password you supplied were not recognised. Please try again.

If you are getting this one then you should re-enter your details and try again. When entering your details please use lower-case letters as the system doesn't recognise capitals. However, if after a number of attempts you still cannot log in, please contact helpdesk@wisden.com.

Sorry you were unable to login at this time. Please try again later.

If you are receiving this message then you may recently have forgotten to log out of Wisden.com from a different terminal, and our security systems are preventing you from logging on again. Please wait 30 minutes, then try again. If after that you are still unable to log in, please contact helpdesk@wisden.com.

I have forgotten my password - what should I do?

You can retrieve your password by clicking here and filling in the relevant details.

What should I do if my e-mail address changes?

Click here, then scroll down the page until you see the "Change details" button. Click that, and then you can update any part of your Wisden.com membership account details.

How do I activate my gift subscription?

Once you have received your gift-subscription confirmation through the post, you should:

  • Go to the Wisden.com homepage
  • Click the "log-in" button that appears on the top left of the page
  • Enter the e-mail address and password from your log-in voucher, and press "Submit" - you can change your e-mail address or password once your membership has been activated.

  • How to search Wisden.com

Wisden.com has a vast database of unrivalled cricket content. For easy access to our archives, we have constructed a site-wide search engine, covering all Wisden.com content ever produced - free or subscription.

To use this facility simply enter your search criteria (a name, a team or a year) into the box that appears at the top left of all Wisden.com pages, and hit the "Go" button.

If relevant material is located, the results will be displayed. Simply follow the links and you will be taken directly to the articles. You will also be given the option of narrowing down your search by area of the site or author.

If the search cannot find what you are looking for, you will be asked either to re-enter your subject matter or to narrow it down.

    My video/audio clip won't play

The answer depends on what exactly is happening to your video or audio player:

The video does not play at all

This may be because you do not have Windows Media Player installed. You will need this to play any video or audio file on Wisden.com. Click here to download Windows Media Player. Once you have downloaded it you will then need to install it onto your computer.

The video keeps buffering while playing

This might be because you are on a slow connection, or that there is a lot of traffic on your local internet network. To resolve this please try the following steps:

  • For Windows Media Player - when the video appears, right-click anywhere on the video. A pop-up menu should appear. Select "Options". An options box should now be at the front of your screen, with two tabs at the top.
  • Click on the tab that says "Advanced". Under the advanced menu options you should see "Streaming Media (Windows Media)". Click on the "Change" button on the right.
  • You will now be presented with another pop-up box. At the top of this one there is a section which controls the video buffer. Change the video buffer from its default value of 5 seconds to between 10 and 15 seconds. Then click the "Apply" and then the "OK" button at the bottom of the box.
  • Try viewing the video again.

I get the following error message when I try to play video:

The operation timed out, possibly due to network problems. Could not connect to server.

You are probably behind a firewall. To resolve this contact your system administrator or internet service provider, and ask them to adjust their firewall to allow packets from Windows Media Player.
