Farewell message from outgoing PCB Director
Pakistan Cricket Board - 16 July 2002

"As I depart from the PCB, I wish to extend a word of thanks to all gentlemen with whom I came into contact over the last 2 years or so. Of course in addition, I will personally call, or write to those who were in closer touch, as required by the nature of their work, although, I will not make any special mention now, out of respect for the feelings of those who cannot be so accommodated."

"I thank the media, especially the print media, with whom there was a constant contact, for trusting my word and showing respect for the constraints of my appointment and position, wherein many-a-times, I felt I had to be more circumspect and less forthcoming than expected by them. I thank the sports scribes and reporters for their friendship, regard and understanding. Most certainly, there are many gentlemen out there in the media."

"I thank our sponsors, led by Pepsi and TWI, and lately joined by PSO, with Samsung and instaphone chipping in at times. They have been always supportive and forthcoming."

"I thank the Associations, Departments, Umpires, Referees and a host of other incognito cricket organizers, who gave me consideration and respect during the course of my duties.

I thank Lt. Gen. Tauqir Zia, Chairman PCB. He became the vehicle of this superb God-sent opportunity, as Director PCB to learn and absorb the nitty gritty of cricket administration at the domestic and international level. Surely on exiting the Board I find myself to be more mature, patient, stronger, wiser & knowledgeable than I was when I entered it.

"Of course thanks are due to my entire staff. They have been sincere to the cause. By their own individual ways, they helped enhance the work of the Board and my personal standing in a big way. May they all continue to prosper."

I pray for the PCB and Pakistan Cricket. May it go the only way good organizations go, that is, the way up.

"I wish the Pakistan players, success, dignity and honour in the times to come. I must thank the ICC, its President Mr. Malcolm Gray and the chief executive Mr. Malcom Speed and the rest of its staff for the great encouragement and support they always extended to me and my Board."

"As I leave, I extend a warm welcome to Mr. Chishty Mujahid. May he succeed as none other."

The out-going director briefed Mr. Chishty today & introduced him to the staff. The new Director will be in the Chair on the 17th July 2002.
