Trego recalled to the squad to face Sussex in championship
Richard Walsh - 18 July 2002

Somerset take on newly promoted Sussex in the county championship tomorrow at the County Ground in Taunton, and will be looking for a win to ease their relegation worries.

Despite gaining eleven points from their match against Yorkshire at Scarborough, that ended last weekend, the Cidermen stay in the bottom three as a result of Warwickshire climbing above them by beating table toppers Surrey.

When the two sides met at Hove earlier in the season the match was drawn, after Somerset had been in a strong winning position.

Earlier today Somerset coach Kevin Shine told me: "This is a big game for us. We have been playing well in the county championship, but we have suffered at the hands of the weather after being in a strong position so lets hope that we have four rain free days. All we need a little bit of luck to go our way and we will get a result."

Pete Trego, who scored runs for the seconds on Wednesday is brought into the squad, but the final decision on team selection will be left until the morning.

The Somerset twelve has been named as: Jamie Cox, Matthew Wood, Mike Burns, Peter Bowler, Keith Parsons, Ian Blackwell, Rob Turner, Keith Dutch, Pete Trego, Matt Bulbeck, Steffan Jones, and Piran Holloway.
