Tri-nation tournament for SA Plascon Academy
Bronwyn Wilkinson - 24 July 2002

A team from the South African national Plascon Academy is to travel to Australia to compete in a tri-nations tournament against their counterparts from New Zealand and Australia in August.

The three teams will play three-day and one-day matches in Townsville, Queensland in the first-ever competition of its kind for SA Academy players. This is the first tour undertaken by the players from the Plascon Academy since 2000, when they went to Kenya.

"The concept is really exiting and it gives our Academy guys the chance to measure themselves at international level and to test their skills against their counterparts from two top academies. We'll be seeing the elite youngsters from all three countries and the standard of cricket is sure to be fantastic," said UCB Director of Coaching Anton Ferreira.
