Dawn Kiwis agree to tour Pakistan
6 March 2002

New Zealand Tuesday formally agreed to reschedule the cancelled tour in April this year, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said.

"We have received official confirmation from New Zealand Cricket (NZC) that the tour is on," a spokesman of the PCB said. The Black Caps will arrive April 18 directly from Sharjah for three one-day internationals under lights and two Tests. They wind up their visit on May 12 and fly home the following day.

The Black Caps will open the tour with the first one-day international Karachi on April 21 and followed up by games at Rawalpindi and Lahore on 24 and 27. The first Test will begin at Lahore from May 1 while Karachi will host the second Test from May 8.

No customary three-day or four-day games have been slated. Furthermore, the Tests will follow the one-dayers which seems unusual considering the extreme hot conditions in Lahore and Karachi.

"The itinerary has been confirmed with mutual interest. Naturally, we have given due consideration to the requests of New Zealand Cricket," the PCB said. "It is a great news though we were always confident that the tour would take place. The situation in Pakistan is absolutely normal," the spokesman said.

Itinerary:

April 21 (Sunday): 1st One-Day at National Stadium, Karachi.

April 24 (Wednesday): 2nd One-Day at Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi.

April 27 (Lahore): 3rd One-Day at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

May 1 to 5 (Wed- Sun): First Test at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

May 8 to 12 (Wed-Sun): Second Test at the National Stadium, Karachi.
