150 not out
Wisden CricInfo staff - October 10, 2002

When Steve Waugh made his Test debut, against India at the MCG on Boxing Day 1985, Shakin' Stevens topped the British charts. Waugh's baggy-green cap may not have changed, but pretty much everything else has. Today, against Pakistan in Sharjah, Waugh took the Test field for the 150th time. He is the only the second man to reach 150 Tests, after another grizzled cobber - Allan Border, who holds the record for Test appearances with 156. Barring injury, or the selectorial axe, Waugh will equal Border's record in the final Ashes Test at Sydney. It could be Waugh's last.

For Waugh, 150 is a significant number. He is the only man to score 150 against every Test-playing nation he has faced - Bangladesh look set to escape - a stunning performance that it is hard to see anyone matching for the foreseeable future. Colin Cowdrey and Alec Stewart famously marked their 100th Tests with hundreds; it would be similarly fitting if Waugh celebrated reaching 150 with another hard-boiled 150.
