Pakistan name new manager
Wisden CricInfo staff - September 24, 2002

The Pakistan Cricket Board has reappointed Brigadier Khawaja Mohammad Nasir as team manager, prior to next month's series against Australia. Nasir, who was manager between November 1999 and December 2000 and created a stir in that time by accusing India of match-fixing, replaces Yawar Saeed, who was recalled from Sri Lanka to hear the news.

The Pakistani media had criticised Saeed, 72, a former Somerset fast bowler, and held him equally at fault. He was appointed Pakistani manager for the first time in 1984, and has held the post for most of the past ten years.

Intikhab Alam, a former Pakistan captain, and former manager Fakir Aizazuddin were also in the running to replace Saeed.

Pakistan play Australia in Colombo from October 3 in the first of three Tests of a series shifted from Pakistan because of security fears. The remaining two Tests will be played in Sharjah, Iraqi conflicts permitting.
