†NEW ZEALAND v PAKISTAN 2000-01
Wisden CricInfo staff - September 11, 2002

At WestpacTrust Stadium, Wellington, February 22 (day/night). Pakistan won by 28 runs. Toss: New Zealand.
Though Shoaib Akhtar was still unfit, Pakistan staged a remarkable reversal of form against a scratchy home effort. They were anchored by a solid 57 from Saeed Anwar, while Yousuf Youhana, with a run-a-ball 47, helped boost the total by 80 runs in the last ten overs. New Zealand then staggered to 18 for three: Fleming's promotion to opener, with Parore dropping down the order after two ducks, failed to pay off. As in Napier, Vincent, showing the confidence of one who had learned much of his game in Australia, proved a useful ally for McMillan and together they added 100 in 20 overs. Once Saqlain Mushtaq separated them, through a stumping confirmed by the third umpire, the Pakistanis ripped through the rest of a shaky line-up. They were later fined 25 per cent of their match fees for a dismally slow over-rate. Man of the Match: Saqlain Mushtaq.
